Rosa María Fernández Rubio is a Spanish climber born in Cangas del Narcea (Principado de Asturias) in 1960. She has climbed 6 of the 14 mountains over 8000 metres, including Mount Everest.

To date she is the only Spanish woman to have completed the 7 Summits Project, climbing the highest mountains on all continents (Europe, Africa, Asia, North America, South America, Oceania and Antarctica).

The mountain ranges of the Andes, Himalayas, the Pyrenees, the Caucasus, the Alps and Karakorum have been the setting for two decades of the expeditions of this mountaineer born for the sport of mountaineering in the Picos de Europa, whose almost all the summits she knows and has climbed.

In addition to her intense mountaineering activity, in 2011 Rosa Fernández founded the Una a Una club, the first women's MTB cycling team in Spain, with which she has carried out sports and solidarity projects such as the Lhasa-Katmandu crossing (Tibet plateau), the Camino de Santiago (northern Spain) or the Trans-Atlas expedition (central Morocco).

In Rosa Fernández's life trajectory, many social and solidarity initiatives stand out, such as the fight against cancer, support for disabled sports or child protection. In 2009 she suffered from breast cancer, from which she has now recovered, and since then she has become an active fighter against this disease and collaborates with the Spanish Association Against Cancer, of which she is a member and member of the Asturian Provincial Board.

Rosa Fernández currently lives in Oviedo with her husband Javier Morán, with whom she had her only daughter, Noemí Morán, in 1979. In addition to climbing, Rosa Fernández regularly practises mountain biking and ski touring.
