Ross Rosenberg M.Ed., LCPC, CADC, is the CEO of the Self-Love Recovery Institute (SLRI). His internationally recognized expertise includes pathological narcissism, narcissistic abuse, and attachment trauma. And his “Codependency Cure™ Program" provides innovative and results-oriented treatment.

Ross' educational and inspirational seminars have earned him international acclaim, including 24 million YouTube video views and 262K subscribers. In addition to being featured on national TV and radio, such as ABC, Psychology Today, Hulu, and The Huffington Post, his “Human Magnet Syndrome” books have been a perennial best-seller, selling over 165K copies in 12 different languages.

Ross Rosenberg is SLRI's primary trainer and consummate mental health educator. His advanced education, advanced clinical certifications, and more than 35 years of professional work experience enable him to create, produce and provide compelling and life-changing seminars.

An accomplished trainer and keynote speaker, Ross works in 30 U.S. states (70 cities) and abroad. His in-person, audio, and video seminars are equally entertaining as they are informative as he shares his own experiences and recovery journey, while engaging the audience as a psychotherapist and professional educator to help them achieve a personal, relational, and emotional recovery.

Writes Dianne Grande of Psychology Today: "For a thorough understanding of how the codependent is especially vulnerable to the narcissist, the reader is referred to the work of Ross Rosenberg, known globally for his knowledge of the codependent-narcissist relationship."[1]

Much of that knowledge is assembled in Ross’s latest work, “Codependency Cure™.” Like The Human Magnet Syndrome[2], it breaks new ground in the mental health field by reformulating, redefining, and ultimately renaming codependency as “Self-Love Deficit Disorder™."

With original theories and concepts, such as the “Relationship Compatibility Theory,” “The 11 Stage Self-Love Recovery Treatment Program,” “The Observe Don’t Absorb Technique,” and others, Ross Rosenberg has reshaped what we know about codependency, codependency recovery, narcissism, dysfunctional relationships, and narcissistic abuse.[3]

Reviews[edit]

Reviews for The Human Magnet Syndrome have been overwhelmingly positive with Dana Pham at Medium saying: "Having read the book, I strongly recommend that every human being on this planet reads it. I believe that regardless of life circumstances, deep down, everyone wants to love and be loved in a relationship. In order to achieve a mutually loving relationship (or friendship), one should avoid giving rise to the Human Magnet Syndrome (HMS)."[4]

More positive editorial reviews shared by Amazon[5] include:

"I recommend The Human Magnet Syndrome to those who work in social services, education, chemical dependency or the counseling fields and to the people they touch. Its time to wake up and this brilliant book sounds the alarm we need."

-Melody Beattie, author of 18 books, including best-selling Codependent No More and Language of Letting Go

"Many couples have a give and take relationship. The takers will not read this book. The givers need to. For those who give too much, there is freedom in these pages. Clarity begins here. Learn why you are constantly frustrated no matter how much you give to your partner. Get this book and give yourself a gift."

--Peter Pearson, Ph.D., co-founder of The Couples Institute

"Born in the cauldron of personal experience of suffering and healing and honed through years of professional experience, this book will help anyone understand the attractors of love and consequent suffering. I recommend it to couples who are mystified by the depth and repetition of their pain and joy and to therapists whose destiny is to help them."

--Harville Hendrix, Ph.D., co-author with Helen LaKelly Hunt of Making Marriage Simple: Transform the Relationship you Have Into the Relationship you Want

While not all raves, Driver's review on Good Reads was a little less flattering of The Human Magnet Syndrome, offering up a 3 out of 5 star rating: "It’s terribly repetitive," he writes. "The author comes across as a bit too self-righteous and in love with himself in my personal opinion and that does get tedious fast."[6]

Still, Kris Freeberg, economist and author at Making End$ Meet, reflects on the positive influence and outlook toward future relationships: "I wish this book had existed when I was fifteen years old, but it didn't. Better late than never. Armed with this new knowledge, I feel fortunate and much better equipped than I've ever been to navigate relationships in a way that is kind, humane, and empathetic, yet firm and protective both of myself and my loved ones: our time, our energy, our emotions, and our fortunes."[7]
