The Rotary Club of Bangkok is a service organization based in Bangkok, Thailand. Founded in 1930, it is the oldest and first chartered Rotary Club in Thailand, operating under Charter No. 3392. The club is a member organization of Rotary International and belongs to District 3350.

History

The Rotary Club of Bangkok held its first organizational meeting on September 17, 1930, at the Phya Thai Palace in Bangkok. The meeting was attended by 69 founding members representing 15 different nationalities. H.R.H. Prince Purachatra (Krom Phra Kampaeng Bejra) was elected as the club's charter president. The club received its official charter from Rotary International on November 28, 1930.

During its early years, the club brought together local Thai leaders, expats, and foreign diplomats, establishing a tradition of hosting weekly lunchtime meetings conducted in English.

Organization and Foundation

The club manages its local and international humanitarian funding through its tax-exempt arm, the Rotary Club of Bangkok Foundation. Administrative operations and member dues are managed independently from charity funds to ensure that public donations directly fund community initiatives.

Projects and Initiatives

The club operates several community service projects, focusing on education, child safety, and regional aid. Key programs include:

  • Rotary Bangkok School: Educational support programs and workshops focusing on child safeguarding and grooming prevention.
  • Border and Migrant Support: Collaborative initiatives funded by Rotary Global Grants to provide educational and psychosocial support for migrant and stateless children along the Thailand–Myanmar border.
  • Fundraising: Annual cultural and international events, including the Latin Gala, hosted to fund the club's yearly community service budget.
