Round Iceland is a sailing challenge to establish the fastest non-stop sailing record around the island of Iceland. The current record of 10 days and 7 hours set in 2004 is held by the crew of Snælda skippered by Valberg Lárusson.[1][2][3] [4]

The 2004 record was the fist non-stop sailing circumnavigation of Iceland. The crew wanted to ensure that the first record was set by a local crew. The record has remained unbroken since then.

The Round Iceland sailing route is just over 800 nautical miles (1,500 km; 920 mi) and can be done either clockwise or anti-clockwise around the island. A boat challenging the record must start and finish the race in the same location but the location can be anywhere in Iceland.

In 2022 the Vendée Arctique was scheduled to circumnavigate Iceland. Due to heavy weather the race was shortened and boats took shelter in the eastern fjords of Iceland.[5]
