RouteRANK Ltd is a Swiss company providing IT software for travel and mobility, in particular for multimodal transport and door-to-door mobility. It was founded by Jochen Mundinger in 2006 and is located at the EPFL Innovation Park in Lausanne, Switzerland.[1]

The Journey planner is a multimodal and door-to-door search engine[2]. It integrates different modes of transport such as air, rail (national and regional), car, car rental, car sharing, coach, public transport, Park&Rail, fleet, ride-hailing, taxi, bike, walk[3][4].

History

The idea of Jochen Mundinger to create routeRANK came when he planned a trip to attend a seminary in Poland in 2006 [5]. After losing an afternoon to arrange his trip, he decided to create a tool to calculate an optimal itinerary[6]. Within one year, he founded routeRANK [7].

The company won the KPMG Tomorrow's Market Award during the Day of Innovation at the EPFL in 2008 [8]. Jochen Mundinger was also named a TR35 by MIT’s Technology Review in 2010[9]. routeRANK has been recognized with several awards such as the Best of Swiss Web 2010[10], the Sustainable Entrepreneurship Award, category “Best idea” in 2012[11], the Zurich Climate Price, Special prize Mobility in 2013[12], the Innovation-Challenge AXA Winterthur in 2016[13] among others.
