Rowan
Rowan (formerly known as Pair Piercing) is an American ear piercing company with piercings performed exclusively by licensed nurses.[1] [2] The company offers ear piercing services to all ages using both hand-pressurized device and needle piercing methods[3] The company created and pierces according to the Rowan Clinical Piercing Standard.[4]
At-home piercings
Rowan was established in 2018 as a concierge ear piercing service in the New York Metropolitan area. In addition to its personalized piercing services, Rowan also introduced a subscription box offering, delivering a pair of hypoallergenic earrings to customers each month.[5][6]
Partnership with Target
In 2020, Rowan opened pop up piercing studios in over 250 Target locations nationwide, using licensed nurses to perform ear piercings.[7][8] Rowan was simultaneously performing at home piercings in the New York Metropolitan area. In 2022, the company ended its partnership with Target to focus on expanding its own national retail footprint.[9]
Locations
Rowan opened its first brick-and-mortar studio in 2020 on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.[9] As of August 2025, Rowan operates studios in over 32 U.S. states. Each studio offers both online booking and walk-in appointments. The company is on track to reach 100 open studios by the end of 2025.[2]
