Rowland Mainstone (born 1923, United Kingdom) is a British architectural historian and author.[1]

Education and career[edit]

He initially trained as an architect but later became a historian and writer.[1]

He has served as a visiting professor of architecture, structures, and structural conservation at the University College, London, the University of Leeds, and the Université catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain).[1]

Awards[edit]

He received the Runciman Award in 1989 for his book Hagia Sophia: Architecture, Structure and Liturgy of Justinian's Great Church.[2]
