Roy Peretz (born in Tel Aviv, Israel on December 28, 1962) is a South African businessman, reality television personality, and owner of the Gold & Diamond Pawn Shop “Cash Inn” which is featured on the History series Pawn Stars South Africa.
Early life
Peretz was born on December 28, 1962, in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Career
Roy studied to become a chemical engineer, and successfully ran his own chemical factory. Then the day arrived when he decided to leave all this behind him to start out in the pawn industry in 1999. In 1999, Peretz sold his factory in Orange Grove to follow his passion for the trade. Peretz then opened his first 300-square-foot second-hand store, called Loancorp which delt in Gold & Silver. After five years the store moved to a larger location on Louis Botha Avenue. After two years at that location, Roy sold Loan Corp and started CashInn where he moved into a new building in Sandton, Hyde Park.
Television
IN 2014, the History channel began a yearlong campaign to find a professional and reputable pawn shop in South Africa to start filming the South African version of Pawn Stars. The producers identified Cashinn of Hyde Park, Johannesburg South Africa owned by Roy Peretz. During the show, Cashinn is filmed doing their everyday activities mostly Roy buying all items of value, from gold, diamonds, watches, paintings, sculptures, cars, high-end Audio Video equipment, boats, and even aircraft!
Podcast channel
In 2016, Roy and the Cashinn team created a Radio podcast channel.
Personal life
Roy has a passion for living and as a member of the Riviera Aquatic Club, regularly visits the Vaal River for water sports with his family. His love for water extends to him being an active environmentalist.
