The Royal Canadian Humane Association was incorporated by royal charter in 1894 “To recognize such deeds of heroism, by Canadians in civilian life, who, through their alertness, skill and concern, save or attempt to save a life, especially where those actions lie outside the ordinary duties of the person involved”. Its parent is the British Royal Humane Society. The association administers the Canada Bravery Awards[1], which are distinct from the Canadian Bravery Decorations.
