Ruben Vergara Meersohn (born August 17, 1991) is an Italian entrepreneur, speaker[1][2][3][4] and media mogul[5][6].

He is the founder, CEO, and editor-in-chief of Wall Street International Magazine[7]; co-founder and COO of VillasLink[8]; COO of Admaiora Group and COO of Cecchi de' Rossi.

Early life[edit]

Vergara was born on August 17, 1991, in Correggio, a small town in Italy, the son of René Antonio Vergara Meersohn, an entrepreneur and publisher[9][10] from Santiago, Chile, and Batoul Kandil, a Lebanese pharmacist. He and his younger sister Rayan Elena Vergara Meersohn (born on May 3, 1998) spent most of their adolescence in Modena[11]. During his childhood he was an avid sportsman and violinist.

As a child, Vergara attended Palestrine Primary, where he began showing his running potential when he ran the annual cross-country race and regional qualifiers. At age 7, he also started playing football in the Italian Youth League, first as a goalkeeper and later as a full-back.

Upon his entry to Ferraris Middle School, Vergara continued to focus on other sports[12], but his football coach noticed Vergara's speed on the pitch and urged him to try track and field events. Stefano Baldini, a former Olympic champion, coached Vergara and few other young athletes at La Fratellanza[13], encouraging them to focus their energies on improving their athletic abilities. Vergara started winning several races[14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22] and began training for Modern Pentathlon.

Vergara was establishing himself as one of the most promising runners[23] and pentathletes before knee issues caused him to retire twice before his 17th birthday. The same year he had to stop playing football as his cruciate ligament injury worsened[24].
