Rudy Rong

Rudy (Ruotian) Rong 戎若天 (born March 29, 1994) is a Chinese-American serial entrepreneur.[1]  He is the Founder and CEO of Magic Ice Cube, KaratDAO,[2] and Magic Cube.[3][4][5]

Early life and education[edit]

Rudy was born in Suzhou, Jiangsu, to Chinese billionaire parents[6] who cofounded Bianfeng Game in 1999, which later became the largest social casino company in China.

In 2008, Rudy came to America and was enrolled in his language school at Solebury School as a freshman. Two years later, Rudy transferred to Germantown Friends School as a Junior.[1] and studied there till 2013. He also studied at Wharton school.[1] During his high school years, Rong met his friends Adam Herrin and Ethan Rabinowitz, who later became cofounders of KaratDAO and essential team members of Magic Ice Cube.

He received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Southern California, Marshall School of Business, in 2017.[7][8][9]

Career[edit]

At 19, Rong started his first company Prime Union, which was covered by Los Angeles Times and CNN as the most exclusive luxury Chinese American private club. It charges a $20,000 membership fee per year.

In 2016, Rong founded Magic Cube[10][11][12][13] as a VR gaming company that later became a game publishing company on blockchain. Magic Cube received investments from Blackstone launchpad, Plug and Play, IDG, and Tencent. Rong is also the co-founder of KaratDAO,[2] a network of users’ web 2&3 identity data created by the people for the people, utilizing blockchain technologies including oracle, soulbound token, and conditional burn. Rong is the Founder and CEO of Authentik Studios.[14][15]

In 2020, Rudy founded Magic Ice Cube,[10][16] one of the largest distributors of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in California and the United States. Magic Ice Cube was featured on CBS’s 60 Minutes due to their stellar track record, 90,000 square feet of storage space in Los Angeles packed with PPE, along with their twenty-two loading docks that ensure logis3cal efficiency for larger volume orders. Magic Ice Cube has delivered PPE directly to military, corporate, national retailers, and multiple government en33es (list provided below) throughout North America, the Middle East, and other territories.

According to Rudy’s interview with Lesley Stahl in CBS 60 Minutes, the newly established PPE company acquired clients including FBI, Cadu,[1] Victoria Secret, TJ Max, Starbucks.  He was featured in CNN’s Life with Lisa Ling, where he talked about his understanding of the new struggles of young rich new immigrants from China. He was a speaker at NEO DevCon (2019),[5] The Web3 & NFT Event of 2022,[17][18] DCentral Miami 2022,[2][19] DEMO (2022),[20] and The Metaverse Expo (2022).[21]

He has been featured on iSmart Podcast[22] and was starred in the reality TV show Attention All tourists with Ouyang NaNa and Bosco Hong for 21 episodes.

Recognition[edit]

In 2017, Rong was awarded as Forbes 30 Under 30 in Asia.[3][23] and in 2019, Rong was awarded Hurun 30 Under 30.[24][25]
