RugbyX is a five-on-five variation of rugby union sevens tournament that took place on October 29, 2019 at The O2 Arena in London. There were six men's teams and four women's teams represented.

Format

For the men's side, there are two pools of three teams.[1] Each team will have two matches in that pool round. The first and second place teams, from each pool, will move on to the knockout stage. For the women's side, the tournament will start with the semifinal round and the winners will move onto the cup final, with the losing sides moving onto the third and fourth place match.

Quick Throws Replace Line Outs All line outs to be quick throws taken by a substitute from the team awarded the throw with any match ball. In practice each team stations one substitute on each sideline, with a match ball in hand ready to take a quick throw when required. Offside line as per 7s and 15s quick throws.

Drawn Matches Settled by One on One Settled by a ‘one on one’ involving one defender on 5m line and one attacker 30m from goal with a ball. The attacker has 10 seconds to score. This is played as per a sudden death penalty shoot out – if Team A scores, Team B must then score or Team A wins the match.
