He is best known for his feature film V6A (2019) and his latest Cielo Aperto (2022), which he presented at the 79th Mostra del Cinema di Venezia.[2][3]
Early life
Ruggero was born in Turin, Italy and raised in Italy. He also lived in Vancouver, Canada where he attended and graduated from the Vancouver Film School and created the Movies Move Us production company. He is currently based between Vancouver and Venice.
Career
Initially, while working in Vancouver as a dishwasher and salesman, Ruggero witnessed the social inequality that shaped the city and was inspired to make his feature documentary "V6A", which premiered at VIFF in 2019 and launched his career in film.[4] After his acclaimed debut, he went on to produce and direct documentaries to empower marginalized communities across Europe and North America. He is currently an ambassador of the Comitato degli Italiani all'Estero, representing Italy in North America and engaging with 115 ambassadors across the world for an international outlook and potential. His latest film project "Cielo Aperto" captures the resiliency of the young generations in the controversial city of Venice, European symbol at the forefront of the most pressing issues of the decade.[5] Cielo Aperto will be announced on September 9th 2022 at the Mostra del Cinema di Venezia to represent younger generations and independent filmmakers across the world.
