Rummana Ahmed is an Indian film critic and journalist with Yahoo India.[1] She has previously worked with CNN-IBN[2] and The Times of India.
Early life and education
Rummana Ahmed completed her graduation from Miranda House, Delhi. She earned her journalism degree from Asian College of Journalism, Chennai and went on to do her Masters from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Rummana has been a Hindi film buff since childhood. During her post-graduation studies she further studied Bollywood cinema in various contexts. She did a comprehensive course on Cinema in ACJ. Later on, during her Masters she worked on various papers on Hindi cinema. Her paper,"Balle Balle! Mumbai to LA: A Look at Contemporary Bollywood Cinema in a Globalized World", explored questions like; What is the Bollywood phenomenon? Why does Bollywood cinema now appeal to a global audience? How does Bollywood market itself in the global film industry? Her paper further spoke about Bollywood as a cultural industry. She also wrote, "Citizen Can: A look at citizenship in contemporary Hindi cinema", this paper explores the role of the common man or the 'aam admi' in recent Hindi films, especially in Neeraj Pandey's 'A Wednesday'.
