Ruralscope is a French-made 16mm 2X Anamorphic Projection lens. It was designed and manufactured by Totalvision in the 1960-the 1970s. It was specifically designed for rural French movie theaters as an inexpensive lens to project movies in wide-screen anamorphic format[1]
Since the 2010s remaining in circulation lenses are sought after by DIY anamorphic aficionados. Ruralscope is used as 2x Anamorphic attachment[2][3] suitable for filming/video recording on modern DSLR and mirrorless cameras. Due to the rarity of this type of scope only a few conversion kits exist on the market.[4]
