Russell "Russ" Hafferkamp (born December 12, 1954, in Pasadena, California) is an American water polo player and coach, author, and entrepreneur.
Russ has principally competed for The Olympic Club [1] water polo team.
Russ is a member of the USA Water Polo Hall of Fame[2] after being inducted in 2022 [3], The Olympic Club Hall of Fame,[4], the International Swimming Hall of Fame [5] and the Santa Barbara High School Hall of Fame [6].
Coaching career
Hafferkamp has coached water polo for the collegiate programs UC Berkeley men and women,[7] UC San Diego men[8].
Business career
Hafferkamp is credited as Inventor of Record for patents issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office relating to the "Method and System for Managing Retail Promotion Events"[9] and "Managing Retail Promotion Events".[10]
Author
Hafferkamp has authored and published the CareerBall series which includes, "CareerBall: The Sport Athletes Play When They're Through Playing Sports"[11] and "CareerBall: The Student-Athlete Career Guide and Handbook"[12].
He authored "Water Polo at The Olympic Club: 1896-2012 A Century of Excellence"[13].
He also authored two children's books covering the COVID-19 pandemic, "Fuzzy the Virus"[14] and “The Adventures of Fuzzy the Virus: Helping Children Understand the COVID Pandemic” [15].
