Russian Lessons
Russian Lessons is a documentary film written and directed by Olga Konskaya and Andrey Nekrasov, and produced by Dreamscanner and Piraya Film.
The film was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize in the World Cinema – Documentary category at the Sundance Film Festival in 2010.
Plot
The film starts as a journey by the two directors-protagonists, Olga and Andrei, on both sides of the frontline during the Russian-Georgian war in August 2008. The filmmakers return to their St. Petersburg studio with footage which they analyze in the process of film editing. This process is intertwined in the film's narrative.
