Ryan Blumenthal
Ryan Blumenthal..[1][2] is a forensic pathologist and associate professor at the University of Pretoria’s Department of Forensic Medicine.
His chief field of interest is the pathology of trauma of lightning, which forms part of wilderness medicine.
He has published widely in the fields of electrocution, suicide, barotrauma and other areas involving the pathology of trauma.

22 June 1974 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Education
Obtained his MBChB - from the University of Pretoria in1998. He received his Dip For Med (SA) in Forensic Medicine from the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa in 2002. He obtained his Certificate in Medicine & Law from the University of South Africa in 2003 (With distinction). His MMed (Med Forens) in Forensic Pathology was obtained from the University of Pretoria in 2005 (With distinction). He obtained his FC For Path (SA) in Forensic Pathology from the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa in 2005. He obtained is PhD from the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering, University of the Witwatersrand in 2015.

Blumenthal authored four fiction books, (The Seed[37], MMA[38], The Rain Beetle[39], and The Butterfly[40]) and two non-fiction books, (Autopsy - Life in the Trenches with a Forensic Pathologist in Africa[41] and Risking Life for Death - Lessons for the Living from the Autopsy Table[42]). The non-fiction books became bestsellers in South Africa.
