Ryan T. Crose is an officer in the United States Coast Guard currently serving with the Department of Homeland Security Joint Task Force – Maritime (DHS JTF-M). He has been awarded the **Coast Guard Medal** for heroism and other recognitions for operational excellence.
Early life and education
Crose was raised in **Morris, Illinois**.[1] He graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Management.[2] He also holds a Master’s degree in Psychology from Northcentral University.[2]
Career
USCGC *Jarvis* (2006–2008)
Crose began his career aboard the USCGC *Jarvis* (WHEC‑725) as a Deck Watch Officer and Assistant Navigator. He was a qualified Boarding Officer, conducting boardings around the Hawaiian Islands and commercial fishing vessels in the Bering Sea.[2]
U.S. Coast Guard District 9 – Command Duty Officer (2008–2012)
He served as a Command Duty Officer at the Ninth District Command Center, overseeing operational coordination, vessel tracking, and incident response.[3]
USCG Sector Southeastern New England (2012–2015)
Crose served at Sector Southeastern New England, providing waterside security during high-profile events, including presidential visits.[4]
Field Consultant, 7‑Eleven (2017–2018)
While serving as a Coast Guard Reservist, Crose worked as a Field Consultant for 7‑Eleven in Illinois.[2]
Heroism and Coast Guard Medal (2017)
On September 26, 2017, Crose rescued a driver from a burning vehicle moments before the fuel tank exploded, demonstrating extraordinary courage.[5] He was awarded the **Coast Guard Medal** and later inducted into the **USCGA Hall of Heroes**.[6]
Maritime Advisor – Honduras (2018–2021)
Crose served at the U.S. Embassy in Tegucigalpa as Maritime Advisor to Honduras, advising the Honduran Navy and law enforcement agencies. He was awarded the **Honduran Medal of Merit, First Class**.[2]
