Ryan Daniels is an Australian media personality, predominantly working for the Seven Network. He also works for radio station Triple M, and writes for The West Australian newspaper.
Media Career
Daniels started at Channel Seven Perth in 2007, working his way up to the role of full-time sports presenter on the 6pm bulletin, replacing long-time sports anchor Basil Zempilas in 2022.[1]
Daniels joined Triple M in 2023, as an AFL commentator and regular contributor on the station's breakfast show, hosted by Xavier Ellis and Katie Lamb. He also commentates AFL games on the station, alongside Ellis, Lachy Reid and Andrew Embley.
Daniels is a regular contributor as a boundary rider on Seven's AFL coverage, and was part of Seven's broadcast team[2] for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
In 2025, Daniels began commentating AFL games for Seven Perth[3] as a play-by-play caller, alongside Mark Readings.
Daniels writes a regular column in The West Australian, and is co-host of a popular AFL podcast, Hard Ball Gets.
In 2025, Daniels was given the role of Mr Telethon[4], taking over from Zempilas, as host of the Channel Seven fundraiser.
Awards
Daniels is a 5-time winner[5] of the Geoff Christian Medal, awarded by the WA Football Media Guild for Excellence across a season, claiming the honour in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024.
Daniels has also been awarded the George Grljusich Award for Best Overall News Story on two occasions (2021/2022).
In 2020, Daniels was awarded 'best columnist'[6] at the WA Media Awards.
In 2021, Daniels was recognised by the Australian Football Media Awards - claiming the AFMA for Best News Reporting by an Individua[7]l in the television category.
Personal Life
Daniels is married to Kelly Daniels. The couple have two children[8], Avery and William.
Daniels grew up in Thornlie, Western Australia, and attended John Wollaston High School, graduating in 2000.
