Ryan Doherty

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

With a passion for art and design, Ryan Doherty brings his creativity to life as the co-owner and visionary behind Corner Bar Management Group, the dynamic company behind popular Downtown Las Vegas hangouts including Commonwealth, The Laundry Room and Park on Fremont.

With a desire to support the revitalization of Downtown Las Vegas, Doherty and his business partner, Justin Weniger, joined with businessman, Michael Parks; and founder of Insomniac Events, Pasquale Rotella, to open Commonwealth and The Laundry Room in November 2012.[1] and Park on Fremont in April 2013.

Doherty led the design of Commonwealth and Park on Fremont, focusing on aspects that mesh with the classic energy of Downtown Las Vegas while still bringing a modern touch. Aiming to help create an identity for each of his projects through art, Doherty has scoured the country to find pieces for the irreverent art on display at each destination[2].

Doherty grew up in Boston, where he spent a lot of time inside bars that his father owned, sparking his interest in the hospitality industry. While in college, Doherty began working in nightlife and quickly became manager of two of the era’s top nightclubs, Baby’s at the Hard Rock Hotel and Club Utopia.

Identifying a need for new businesses to support Las Vegas’ fast-growing nightlife industry and appeal to a younger demographic, Doherty left nightlife management to open a portfolio of companies with Weniger[3]. The duo first opened Las Vegas Printing Press in 2003, which later became Environmental Ink, and then entered the media industry through bringing 944, a popular lifestyle publication, to Las Vegas. Naming the parent entity WENDOH Media Companies, Doherty and Weniger now own and operate the weekly Vegas SEVEN and several online media outlets, including dtlv.com and SpyOnVegas.com[4].

In 2015, Doherty became the Chief Experience Officer of Life is Beautiful[5], an electrifying annual festival celebrating music, art, food and ideas in Downtown Las Vegas, when WENDOH Media acquired a 50 percent stake in the downtown festival[6]. Spearheading the Life is Beautiful Mural Program, Doherty has coordinated public works of art throughout Downtown Las Vegas with over 40 artists from around the world and is dedicated to reinventing the city with an innovative capacity[7]

Doherty holds a Bachelor of Arts in hotel management from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He also attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
