Ryan Martin Williams

The morning of June 3, 1989 was unusually warm for small, working class town of Linden, Michigan. The sun had not yet risen as temperatures climbed well into the 90s. When weather anomalies like this occur, modern men are loathe to provide any other reason besides that which can be explained. The empiricists, the academics, the students, those who presume to think that we can know why things happen--men, in other words--had their explanations. Global warming, El Nino, La Nina, a shift in the Trans-Atlantic current. What we know now is what every woman knew back then. Something else had entered the world. Something that makes even our own temperatures rise and our hearts quicken their otherwise steady pace.
