Ryan Paonessa
Ryan Paonessa (born 1984), is an American graphic designer, visual artist, and co-founder of R&Co Design.
Ryan’s work in both design and fine art focusses on a reductive approach to both form and space. His work, though sometimes abstract, is meant to efficiently communicate while remaining aesthetically pleasing and relevant over time.
Early life and career[edit]
Ryan Paonessa was born in Peekskill, New York on November 11, 1984. Paonessa was interested in fine art at an early age. He was heavily influenced by skateboard, snowboard, and graffiti culture. He was in the Advanced Placement Fine Art program at Walter Panas High School where he began working on a college entrance portfolio. The work was mostly abstract and juxtaposed by typographic elements in a graphic style. Paonessa began creating t-shirt designs and skateboard graphics for local New York-based brands. He eventually studied visual design at the Peekskill Center for the Digital Arts and communication design at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Ryan moved to Brooklyn, New York in 2006.
TakePride[edit]
In 2006 Ryan helped start a support-the-troops t-shirt company called TakePride. TakePride received national news attention for their designs which were inspired by the lives and actions of active service-members [1] [2]. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the shirts was donated to charities that directly benefited service men and women. Ryan’s role as Director of Design and Development at TakePride [3] included designing t-shirt graphics, marketing & brand materials, as well as the e-commerce website and overall digital presence. He was also responsible for sourcing other artists to create designs for the shirts.
R&Co Design[edit]
In 2010 Ryan co-founded R&Co Design, a creative studio focussed on design, development, and consulting for web and brand identity.
Whale Global[edit]
In 2011 Ryan joined Whale Global as Creative Director. Whale is a London-based online gaming and entertainment company whose flagship product, Whale Gaming, is a comprehensive online sportsbook and casino. They also specialize in b2b technology, consulting, and infrastructure solutions.
