89.1 WEMU[edit]

Wooley was the color commentator for Eastern Michigan University men's and women's basketball for the 2007 and 2008 seasons.[1]

Before landing the color analyst position, he started at WEMU as the halftime sports anchor during football and basketball games after receiving the "J. Clarence and Courtney S. Fountain Sportscasters Scholarship"[2] from longtime EMU announcer John C. Fountain.

Eagle All Access[edit]

After a one-year hiatus, Wooley returned to the microphone in 2010 as the play by play voice of the EMU Women's basketball team for a subscription based network called Eagle All Access. The network allows fans to stream games live online or watch archived games from the entire season.

WWJ Newsradio 950[edit]

Wooley delivers the sports updates most weekends from 1pm until 6pm on the :15 and :45 of every hour. He also anchors the College and Pro Football Scoreboard shows during the fall.[3]

The Voice[edit]

Wooley is entering his 9th season as the play by play voice of the John Glenn Rocket High School football team[4] for WLND, which is Westland, Michigan's local Public-access television cable TV station. He also is the Public Address announcer for freshmen, JV and Varsity games, when the varsity games are not televised.

The Call[edit]

On Friday night October 2, 2009, Westland John Glenn was playing host to Plymouth in the annual homecoming game and trailed by 1 (28-27) with just five seconds left. Glenn then attempted the game-winning field goal, only to have it blocked. The ball however never crossed the line of scrimmage, and by rule, is a live ball. John Glenn scooped up the football and ran it into the end zone for the game-winning touchdown. Ryan Wooley was delivering the play by play for WLND, and the call has become a YouTube sensation.[5]

National News[edit]

The final call of the game garnered so much attention, that it was aired on ESPN Sportscenter, ESPN First "Take",[6] Jimmy Kimmel Live!, as well as local outlets in Detroit; WDIV Channel 4[7] and WXYZ Channel 7.[8]

With his last name of Wooley, he was nicknamed "The Wooley Mammoth".
