S&P Capital IQ Pro

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

  • Comment: Repeated use of LLMs. This page shows no standalone notability, literally not a single source worth anything. Sourcing is wholly unreliable, PR regurgitated cruft, and/or WP:ORGTRIV. If this product is really that notable and relevant there would be plenty of secondary sourcing discussing the subject in detail. There simply isn't. This draft has wasted the time of enough reviewers. Sulfurboy (talk) 09:08, 21 July 2026 (UTC)
  • Comment: Vague and superficial analysis such as Template:Tq is only for quoting in talk and project pages. Do not use it in actual articles. is characteristic of LLM usage, not to mention that the first source is hallucinated. This platform also has no indication of meeting Wikipedia's notability guidelines. Helpful Raccoon (talk) 23:24, 12 June 2026 (UTC)

S&P Capital IQ Pro is a financial data platform operated by S&P Global Market Intelligence, a division of S&P Global. It is associated with the legacy Capital IQ and SNL Financial businesses and has been covered by financial data and technology publications in relation to platform integrations, fixed income data, consensus estimates and artificial intelligence-related product updates.[1][2][3]

Background

Capital IQ was founded in 1999 and was acquired in 2004 by McGraw-Hill Financial, which later became S&P Global.[4] In 2015, McGraw Hill Financial agreed to acquire SNL Financial, a provider of sector-specific financial data for industries including banking, insurance, energy and real estate.[5]

S&P Global Market Intelligence announced S&P Capital IQ Pro in September 2021 as a refreshed integrated desktop solution combining data, analytics and tools from previous S&P Capital IQ and SNL Financial platforms.[1]

Platform developments

In July 2023, A-Team Insight reported that loan pricing, analytics and liquidity measures had been added to S&P Capital IQ Pro following S&P Global’s merger with IHS Markit.[6]

In June 2024, A-Team Insight reported that S&P Global Market Intelligence had updated S&P Capital IQ Pro with fixed income data and generative AI-powered earnings transcript summarisation. The same article stated that recent additions to the platform included AI-enabled search and the integration of IHS Markit content, including loan pricing and analytics, Purchasing Managers’ Index indicators, country risk scores and economic data.[2]

In 2024, S&P Global acquired Visible Alpha, a provider of consensus forecasts, key performance indicators and analytics based on sell-side analyst models.[7] In April 2025, A-Team Insight reported that Visible Alpha’s consensus estimate aggregation product had been incorporated into S&P Capital IQ Pro after S&P Global’s acquisition of Visible Alpha.[3]

In March 2026, A-Team Insight reported that S&P Global had updated Capital IQ Pro with artificial intelligence capabilities and expanded datasets, including ProntoNLP sentiment analysis in document workflows and additional structured securities, biopharma analytics and private-market investment documents.[8] A separate A-Team Insight article published in March 2026 described S&P Global’s plan to expose Capital IQ Pro data and capabilities through Model Context Protocol servers so that AI agents could interact with external tools and data sources.[9]
