History
SA Recycling was founded by George Adams Sr. in 1973 in Anaheim, CA.[5] SA Recycling LLC was formerly known as Adams International Metals Corp. SA Recycling LLC operates as a joint venture between Sims Metal Management Limited and Adams Steel, LLC.[6]
Adams Sr. was an Army veteran who served in World War II and the Korean War and received three Purple Hearts, and became a general contractor in the 1970s. While he still works for the company, it is his children who sit on the board. Daughter Wendy is former CFO. George Jr., 54, of Orange, is president. Mike, 53, of Anaheim, is Chief Technical Officer. Terry, 51, Newport Beach, is director.[7]
On June 1, 2014, SA Recycling acquired Arizona Recycling Corp. (ARC) and Newell Recycling Co. Arizona Recycling Corp. was headquartered in Phoenix, AZ and operated four ferrous and nonferrous yards in the Phoenix and Mesa areas. Newell Recycling Co. was headquartered in El Paso, TX.[8] In late 2017, SA Recycling acquired Decatur, Alabama-based Tennessee Valley Recycling (TVR), a 110-year-old metal recycling company with five facilities in Alabama and one in Tennessee.[9]
