SEA SCOUTS AND GUIDES - INDIA (SSG) is Non-Government, Non - Political , Voluntary Youth Organization that strives for excellence and works with a view to provide guidance to youth to attain a great career in Indian Armed Forces and Merchant Marine. Also it serves the society in a great way by voluntary cleaning of the city, rivers, beaches and hill forts of Maharashtra. The training service is provided by the Academy with a view to create upright successful and talented citizens. Sea Scouting was founded in India in 2000 as an branch of Ocean Cadet Academy and became a member of the Bharat Scouts and Guides - Pune in 9th July 2019.

Sea Scouts and Guides[edit]

[[File:]] 2000: Mr G S Maliyadri at the age of 19 in love with the SEA formed Ocean Cadet Academy (Sea Scouts) on 1st July 2000 to involve the youth in water based activities and to instill in them the spirit of discipline and adventure.

2001: The first unit was started at Talegaon Dabhade, Dist Pune with the strength of 250 cadets.

2002: Talegaon Unit was commissioned by Smt. Anjali Raje Dabhade then President of Talegaon Dabhade Municipal Corporation.

2003: The second unit was started at Jnana Prabodhini Navnagar Vidyalaya, Pradhikaran, Nigdi with 250 cadets.

2004: On 22 Feb. 2004, Commodore Rajan Vir AFV, President, Indian Maritime Foundation was the chief Guest for the Passing out Parade and the 4th Anniversary of the OCA, the Akurdi Unit was also Commissioned on this day .

2005: Watermanship Training centre / Boat Club for activities like Boat Pulling, Kayaking, River Crossing was constructed on the bank of Indrayani River at Kamshet.

[[Image:]] On 15 Dec. 2005, Mr Chandrashekhar Daithankar IPS then IGP Maharashtra came as the chief Guest for the 5th Anniversary of OCA and the Passing out Parade of 2nd Batch.

2006: On 25 Nov 2006, Mr PC Zapke, Executive Director, Godavari Marathwada Development Corporation was the Chief Guest for the 6th Anniversary of OCA and the Passing out Parade of 3rd Batch.

2007: On 2 Dec 2007, Capt. Shyam Jairam, Master Mariner, Director, Seaarland Shipping Company, then Chairman MASSA was the Chief Guest for 7th Anniversary and the Passing out Parade of 4th Batch.

2009: On 18 Jan 2009, Mrs. Aparna Tai Doke, Mayor Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation was the Chief Guest for the 9th Anniversary and the Passing Out Parade of 5th and 6th Batch.

2010: On 3 Jan 2010, Brigadier Sudhir Sawant AFV ( ex Member of Parliament) was the Chief Guest for the 10th Anniversary and the Passing out parade of 7th Batch. 2012: Mr Shrirang Appa Barne, Member of Parliament was the Chief Guest for the 12th Anniversary and Passing out Parade of 9th Batch.

2013: On 03 Jan 2013, Veteran Vice Admiral Manohar Awati, Vir Chakra, 1971 War Hero was the Chief Guest for the 13th Anniversary and the Passing out Parade of 10th Batch.

2016: On 21 Feb. 2016, Mr Madhukarrao Kokate, IAS, Former Chairman MPSC and Former Dist. Collector Pune was the Chief Guest for 16 Anniversary and 13th Passing out Parade.

2019: On 17 May 2019, Mr Afshad Ahmed, Chairman Hindustan Scouts and Guides Karnataka was the Chief Guest for the 19th Anniversary and the Passing out Parade of 16th batch.

2020: Training Centre from Jnanaprabodhini Navnagar Vidyalaya shifted to Kamalnayan Bajaj High School and Junio College at Thermax School, Chinchwad

The SEA SCOUTS AND GUIDES - INDIA will strive to prepare every eligible youth in India to become a responsible, participating citizen and leader guided by the SEA SCOUTS, Promise and Motto.

MISSION[edit]

The mission of the SEA SCOUTS AND GUIDES - INDIA is to develop Sea Scouting all over India and to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the Sense of Discipline, Responsibility, Character and fostering leadership through Seamanship, Sailing and related nautical pursuits on the waterfront and within the principles and values of the Promise and Motto.

I do hereby solemnly Promise to serve Ocean Cadet Academy for God and for my Motherland most truly and loyally and to obey the orders of my officers and that I will abide by the rules and regulations of Sea Scouts and Guides. I will be proud of my uniform, be smart and seaman like in wearing it and by my behaviour I will bring credit to it. I will keep myself physically fit, mentally awake and morally straight. Further under the command and control of my Leaders I will participate in every camp and other activity most sincerely, most truly, and whole heartedly. JAI HIND.

Objectives[edit]

  1. To develop Sea Scouting all over India.
  2. To create Sea mindedness.
  3. Impart Seamanship training and instill Naval traditions and values in boys and girls who intend to join the Indian Navy, Merchant Navy, Coast Guard, Army, Air force and other Para Military forces.
  4. Provide for Physical, Mental, Moral, Spiritual, Social, Educational and Cultural Development of the cadets.
  5. Develop character and good citizenship in the widest sense among boys and girls through sea training.
  6. To create a force of disciplined man power which in a national emergency could be of assistance to the country.
