SML (Formerly: SuperMarioLogan) is an American YouTube channel created by Logan Austin Thirtyacre (born November 17, 1994).[1][2]

Biography[edit]

Early History[edit]

Logan Thirtyacre was born on November 17, 1994, in Pensacola, Florida. He is the son of Jennifer and Kelly Thirtyacre and is the middle child with an older brother, Lance (b. September 23, 1993), and a younger half-sister, Haleigh (b. 2010). Growing up, his father was not around Logan and his family that much as he was a truck driver. His parents later divorced, and his mother remarried to a guy named Brian Grant, whom Logan introduced Mario to.

Health[edit]

In 2011, Logan was diagnosed with Superior mesenteric artery syndrome (SMAS) which is a very rare intestinal disease.[3] On June 20, 2012, he had a surgery for his SMAS.

Career[edit]

He created his channel on December 8, 2007.[4] He started uploading Plush videos, his first video was a recreation of the Super Mario Got Milk commercial. After that Logan would add more characters to his videos including Shrek, Woody and Tony the Tiger.

Logan later would ask his friends Zeke and Luke to be in videos with him, They would go on to make ''Mario and Luigi's Stupid and Dumb Adventures.'' Logan would introduce the character Mama Luigi who would be very popular with his fans.

Zeke and Luke would end up moving away to Colorado and Logan would stop using Mama Luigi.

Jeffy[edit]

On January 24, 2016, Logan uploaded a video titled ''Mario The Babysitter'' which introduced a controversial character by the name of Jeffy.[5] Many fans did not like Jeffy but it also garnered a lot of attention and views.

Demonetization and Age-Restriction[edit]

On December 11, 2017, a mum from Teesside, England told news sources that her son had wrapped material from the family's Christmas tree around his neck. She blamed it on Logan's character Jeffy for the son's action as he may have been inspired by a video Logan uploaded titled ''Jeffy's Tantrum'' to do this action, ultimately leading to the video being age-restricted.[6] About a day later, YouTube age-restricted and demonetized almost all of the videos on SuperMarioLogan, causing Logan to start making family-friendly content for 2 months until his channel got completely demonetized having Logan to make his videos on his second channel, SuperLuigiLogan.

On May 8, 2018, Good Morning America published an article about what parents need to know about inappropriate content on YouTube. They brought out Philadelphia area tweens aged 10 to 13 to talk about their experiences on YouTube. One of the boys mentioned that SuperMarioLogan was one of his favorite channels, while two other boys said they knew who Jeffy was, making sources look closer at the channel and Jeffy.[7] This also made Common Sense Media make a parental review about SuperMarioLogan which called it "your basic online nightmare for parents of young kids."[8]

Swatting[edit]

2020–present[edit]

Tom Brady Auction[edit]

In May 2020, Logan won a auction to have dinner with football player Tom Brady.[9][10] On September 2023, they had their dinner which turned into a lunch.[11]

Cease and Desist[edit]

In 2021, Logan got a Cease and desist letter from Nintendo and they had to stop using the Mario Plushes.[12]

Personal life[edit]

In August 2010, Logan started dating a girl named Chilly Jimenez whom he met through high school. They have had an on-again, off-again relationship since 2012. In June 2019, Logan proposed to Chilly at a Jason Derulo concert at Universal Studios.[13] In February 2020, they broke off their engagement after Logan had said that Chilly cheated on him with a man named Roy Gebhard whom Chilly took with to the Super Bowl, but it was actually revealed through an interview that Logan had cheated on her with a girl nicknamed Willow or Adriana since October 2019.[14] On Christmas Eve of 2021, Logan and Chilly announced that they were officially back together but that they were also expecting their first child together.[15] On July 7, 2022, their daughter Lilly Isabella Thirtyacre was born.[16]
