School housing system
Introduced in 21 June 2013, SAKURA students are divided into a housing system like other fully residential schools in Malaysia, with 4 houses in total.
| House | Logo | Colour | Element | State of Matter | Symbolism |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aero | Yellow | Wind | Gas | Intellect & freedom[2] | |
| Aqua | Blue | Water | Liquid | Adaptability & growth[3] | |
| Ignis | Red | Fire | Plasma | Passion & energy[4] | |
| Terra | Green | Earth | Solid | Stability & resilience[5] |
Each house is represented by an element and their names are derived from Latin. They also represent a state of matter. For example, House Ignis has fire as its representative element and is also represented by plasma.
To appreciate the students' dedication and the efforts of each house throughout the school year, an award ceremony is done each year which is known as the Sri Bitara Award Night (Malay: Malam Anugerah Sri Bitara).
Academic performance
SAKURA had its first SPM examinations in 2014 from the first batch of Form 4 students that enrolled into the school. When the results were announced in 2015-2016, SAKURA achieved a School Average Grade (Malay: Gred Purata Sekolah, abbreviated GPS) of 1.84[6], in 3rd place after SAINSKU and SAINSRI, which claimed first and second places respectively in the top 7 schools in Sarawak.
