S. Sreejith is an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the 1996 batch belonging to the Kerala cadre. He is serving as the Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services, Kerala. During his career, he has held several senior positions in the Kerala Police, including Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Inspector General of Police (IGP), Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Superintendent of Police (SP), and Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).
Early life and education
S. Sreejith is a native of Eranjipalam in Kozhikode district, Kerala. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Sree Narayana College, Chelannur.
Before joining the Indian Police Service, he worked with All India Radio from 1990 to 1991 and later served in the Customs Department between 1991 and 1996.
Police career
Sreejith joined the Indian Police Service in 1996 as a member of the Kerala cadre. After completing his training, he began his career as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) at Kunnamkulam in 1998. He later served as ASP in Vadakara and Thalassery.
Promoted to Superintendent of Police in 2000, he held several operational and administrative assignments. He served as Commandant of the 4th Battalion of the Kerala Armed Police and the Malabar Special Police. He also worked in the Crime Branch, Intelligence Wing and Police Telecommunication.
During his tenure as Superintendent of Police, he headed district police units in Kasaragod, Kollam, Kottayam, Kannur and Kozhikode.
In 2010, he was promoted as Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) and served in the Crime Branch. He later served as DIG of Kannur Range, Joint Director of the Kerala Police Academy, and DIG in the Kerala State Human Rights Commission.
He was promoted to Inspector General of Police (IGP) in 2014. He subsequently served as Inspector General of Police in the Crime Branch and Kochi Range after his tenure with the Kerala State Human Rights Commission.
In 2021, Sreejith was promoted to the rank of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) and headed the Crime Branch.
In 2022, he was appointed Transport Commissioner of Kerala in the Motor Vehicles Department.
In 2024, he was posted as Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters) at the Kerala Police Headquarters. He currently serves as the Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services, Kerala.
