Early life
Saanmuu was born into a Tamil household in the United Kingdom. His parents, who fled war-torn circumstances to build a new life in the UK, valued stability, encouraging Saanmuu to pursue a traditional career path. He completed his education at a grammar school before obtaining a law degree and practicing as a lawyer for a brief period. Later, he transitioned into a career as an IT support engineer.
However, despite his stable career trajectory, Saanmuu's true passion was filmmaking. Throughout his university years, he explored opportunities in media, focusing on camera work in both photography and videography. His commitments limited his ability to pursue filmmaking full-time during this period, but his passion persisted.

Saanmuu took a leap of faith in his filmmaking journey, moving away from his previous careers to focus on his creative pursuits. He has since directed over 20 music videos, primarily within the Tamil independent music scene in the UK and Europe. In September 2023, Saanmuu premiered the first episode of his original short series, The Jungle, at the BFI cinemas in London. The series explores themes of gang life, violence, and retribution, and is set against the backdrop of London's criminal underworld.

The first episode follows Joshua, the young leader of the 'Trippy Soldiers' gang, as he navigates the repercussions of a failed mission. The story introduces Raavanan, a legendary criminal figure who returns to the scene after a long absence, igniting tension between the city's gangs.
The narrative delves into the challenges of escaping a life of crime, exploring themes of revenge, power, and loyalty. Raavanan's return sets off a violent chain of events, leading to a dramatic clash between the Trippy Soldiers and Raavanan's gang, the 'Born Sinners'.
