Sabahan Malay is the Malay language which is spoken by many people in the state of Sabah. Sabahan Malay has much in common with Standard Malay, but there are differences in certain words and word usage. These differences are due to the influence of local languages (for example, Kadazan and Bajau languages) and the languages of neighboring countries (Brunei Malay, Tagalog and Indonesian).[1]
