Biography

Sabine Thiesler was born in Berlin in 1957. After passing her Abitur, she studied German and Theatre Studies at the FU Berlin and attended the Fritz Kirchhoff school of drama. She then worked for several years as a TV actress, was a member of the Berlin cabaret ''Stachelschweine" as well as an ensemble member of the combined city theaters of Krefeld, Mönchengladbach and Rheydt.

Together with Klaus Rumpf, Sabine Thiesler was the director and chief dramaturge at the Hansa Theater, Berlin.

As a voice actress, she voiced Geena Davis in the German synchronization of the movie

The Fly (1986 film) by David Cronenberg and (regularly) Michelle Pfeiffer. She also voiced Morgan Fairchild in her role as Constance Weldon Carlyle in the TV series Flamingo Road (TV series). After playing the lead in the TV series Zentrale Bangkok, she decided to become a playwright and screenwriter herself. Following this decision, she wrote numerous successful scripts for both TV and stage. The series Der kleine Vampir (1985) and the thriller Der Mörder und sein Kind won each the Grimme-Preis.

Her debut Der Kindersammler, which was published in 2006, has been translated into more than 15 languages and was for months on the bestseller lists. All of her other thrillers were likewise successful. She is one of the most popular authors in Germany.

Readers and critics alike are enthusiastic about her novels. This is mainly due to the perspective she highlights: not the investigative work is brought to the fore in her novels, but the perpetrator, who cannot control his feelings due to which the situation quickly escalates. Furthermore, the author’s attention to detail and thus her depiction of reality have been repeatedly praised. In fact in an interview, the author once emphasized that the depiction of reality in thrillers must be exact in order for fiction to be believable

Sabine Thiesler is married to Klaus Rumpf and lives in the North of Germany. The couple has one son.
