Sachem Matthew Thomas
Sachem Matthew Thomas (born c.1961), is an American Indian chief, who currently serves as the chief of the Narragansett Native American tribe.
Thomas was born circa 1961, in Rhode Island, USA. He attended school in the town of Narragansett. As a student during his school years, he discovered the many stereotypes of the American Indian people in America. In 1977, his brother, Eric Thomas, left Rhode Island and moved to the southwest United States. In 1997, he was elected as chief of his tribe. In 2016, he was sued by the tribal council for being chief for so long. He accused the council of being an imposter council. He won the case and is still currently the chief.
