Sachin Gangadhar Lokapure (born 11 October 1986) is an Indian microscopist, inventor, and pharmaceutical scientist. He is associated with the development of digital microscopy instruments and bacterial motility detection devices. According to Indian media reports, his work has been listed in the Limca Book of Records and the India Book of Records in connection with patent filings.[1][2] He completed his Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from Shivaji University and his Master of Pharmacy degree from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bengaluru. He later joined Appasaheb Birnale College of Pharmacy, Sangli, where he has been involved in academic and research activities. He is also associated with SAGLO Research Industry, which works on microscopy and optical research equipment.[3]

Research

He has worked on devices related to bacterial movement detection, microbial electrolysis systems, and digital microscopy adapters. A published study by Lokapure describes a method and device for detecting bacterial motility using a disk-type sample holder.[4] He has published multiple research papers listed on Google Scholar[5] and has delivered invited lectures at academic institutions in India.[6]

He is the author of the book Principle of Indian Intellectual Property Rights – Law and Practice.[7] He developed a differential condenser for pharmaceutical organic reactions. According to media reports, a design patent was granted for the condenser by the Government of India.[8] Also he developed a multi-photon contrast illumination device for use with digital optical microscopes. Patent applications and copyright registration have been reported for the device.[9]

Career

According to published reports, Lokapure began his research work in his early twenties and filed his first patent application in 2009.[11]

He has been listed as an inventor on multiple Indian patent documents related to microscopy instruments and laboratory devices. Media reports state that more than 75 patents have been granted in his name and that several patented products have been developed.[12]

Recognition

Indian news outlets have reported that Lokapure's work has been included in the Limca Book of Records and the India Book of Records in relation to patent activity.[13]
