Humanitarian Work
During the peak of COVID-19, the number of patients increased day by day with oxygen shortages. One of the other symptoms of an infected patient is shortness of breath. But the stock of oxygen cylinders was less than the requirement in the country. Meanwhile, unscrupulous traders had created an artificial crisis by raising the price of oxygen in the market.
In such a situation, thinking of the common people, three young people under the leadership of Sad Bin Kader Chowdhury, the former Secretary for Freedom, Struggle and Liberation War of Dhaka University Central Student Parliament, started free oxygen service activities. This humanitarian program, which started with only 6 cylinders, was named 'Joy Bangla Oxygen Service'. Activities started on June 25 under the slogan 'Waiting for a new dawn'.[2]
Three thousand 242 people have taken service from them in the last 6 months. Initially, the service was only available for Corona patients, but now any patient can avail this service by showing the doctor's advice. The service started on June 25 in the capital. Then on July 25 and 29 they started operations in two more divisional cities, Chittagong and Mymensingh. On August 8, the delivery of oxygen to affected patients through courier started all over the country. District-based activities started on August 3 through Feni district. Then on November 7 in Laxmipur district and on November 26 in Bogra district, the delivery of oxygen service started. At present, activities are underway in Cox's Bazar, Sirajganj and Khulna.
At present, about 120 volunteers are involved in this humanitarian activity across the country. They are going through this service 24 hours a day through 76 cylinders.[3]
He helped financially over 1,000 students of University of Dhaka during Covid-19. There was no initiative for rickshaw, CNG, van, tractor and tomtom drivers during the pandemic. So he took a great initiative and managed food for 400 families.[4]
