Sadie Marquardt aka "The Queen of Drum Solo" is American Belly Dancer ( Belly dance ). She is known as one of the best drum solo performers of her time and the most viewed belly dancer on Youtube with over 31 million views on one video alone. [1]


Biography

Sadie was born on October 30, 1977, to a single construction worker mother in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.[2] She was active in swimming and gymnastics. In her teenage years, her mother moved her and her brother to Denver, Colorado. She tried out for the local gymnastics team but was declined and coach pointed out that her body will not be a good fit for a sport. Being removed from her friends and sport she loved she found comfort in Goth culture. In her early 20-s, she heard a belly-gram advertising on radio and took her first belly dance class. This is where she met another belly dancer Kaya and their complementary dance style inspired them to start a performance duo.

Career 2010 she and her dancing partner Kaya competed on "America Got Talent" and made it to Top 48 out of 70,000 auditions on season 5 of the program. They are the only bellydancers to make it that far on the American version of the show.[3][4] [5]

Sadie's signature style and technique have marked a new genre and following in Bellydance. Her unique expression fuses together athleticism, grace, and precision. Sadie studied with many reputable Middle Eastern dance and music teachers from around the world. Key influential moments in her education include two extended trips to Turkey where she studied and observed the dance and learning to play the Doumbek Goblet drum via master percussionist and musician Souhail Kaspar.

As one of the most sought-after performers and teachers of Oriental Dance (Belly Dance), Sadie has visited hundreds of cities in over 40 countries. She has received accolades such as "The Critic's Choice" by the Denver Post and Westswords "Denver's Best 2006" for shows and dance classes, dancing for celebrities like Will Smith and Kevin Fitzgerald of Animal Planet's "Emergency Vets", TV appearances in a James Bond commercial produced by Starz/Encore and choreographing for, and dancing in music videos and musicals.

The documentary "Sadie. Belly Dance Beyond The Glitter" will feature her career and many other influencial belly dancers around the world; Didem (belly dancer), Prof. Hassan Khalil, Horacio Cifuentes, Beata Cifuentes, Nourhan Sharif.

Personal Life

2011 Sadie and her partner drummer David Hinojosa welcomed their first son. She keep dancing and performing through out her pregnancy.
