With an experience spanning over 33 years, His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer is considered one of the most influential figures in the energy and water sector in the region. He also has extensive experience and remarkable achievements in telecommunications, infrastructure, smart cities, oil, gas, and industry.[1]

Under his leadership since 1992, DEWA has achieved unprecedented successes and has become one of the most distinguished utilities in the world in all areas at the local[2], regional[3] and international[4] levels.

His Excellency has pioneered leading initiatives that culminated with the establishment of several successful companies such as Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (EMPOWER), Mai Dubai, Innogy International – Middle East, and Jumeirah Energy International Silicon Valley, among others.[5]

His Excellency is a member of the Executive Council of Dubai and the Strategic Affairs Council of Dubai. He is Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Chairman of Dubai Smart City Office, Vice Chairman of Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA), Vice Chairman of Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC), Vice Chairman of Dragon Oil Company, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia), and Chairman of World Green Economy Organisation (WGEO). He is also member, vice chairman, or chairman of various high-level committees and higher leading councils in Dubai.[6]

His Excellency received many prestigious awards such as the Middle East Champion of Energy award at the World Green Economy Summit[7] 2015 from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). In May 2016, UNDP appointed His Excellency ‘UNDP National Goodwill Ambassador for Sustainable Development Goals’. The Swiss Business Council, Dubai & Northern Emirates awarded His Excellency the prestigious ‘Lord of Matterhorn Award’.[8] Moreover, His Excellency received an honorary doctorate from Amity University in Dubai in appreciation of his continuing innovative efforts to achieve excellence and enhance scientific knowledge and sustainability.[9]

Al Tayer’s efforts contributed to the UAE, represented by DEWA, ranking first in the world in getting electricity, as per the World Bank’s Doing Business 2018.[10]
