Safar Rasulov
Safar Rasulov (born 8 April 2003) is an Azerbaijani tennis player who has represented Azerbaijan in the Davis Cup and competes on the ITF World Tennis Tour.
Early life and education
Safar Rasulov was born in Moscow, Russia, to parents Vagif Rasulov and Firangiz Rasulova.[1] He lived in Berlin, Germany, and later in Madrid, Spain, where he attended IES Alameda de Osuna and completed his secondary education. He was born to parents Vagif Rasulov and Firangiz Rasulova.[2]
Tennis career
ITF and junior
Rasulov competes internationally under the flag of Azerbaijan on the ITF World Tennis Tour.[3]During his junior years in Spain, he achieved notable success, including winning the Madrid under-14 regional championship. He also reached the semifinal of the Spanish national championship, where he lost to future world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz.[4]
Davis Cup
Rasulov has represented Azerbaijan in Davis Cup competition.[5] In July 2023, he defeated his Armenian opponent 6–4, 6–2, helping the Azerbaijani team secure promotion to Davis Cup Group III.[6] According to Azernews, in that same tie the Azerbaijani team “left no chances to their Armenian rivals” as Rasulov and teammate Kanan Gasimov recorded key victories.[7][8]
Recent activity
Rasulov remains active as a student-athlete in the United States studying Aviation.[9] In addition to collegiate competition, he continues to participate in international events on the ITF circuit and in Davis Cup ties for Azerbaijan.[10]
