Safe In Our World is a charity registered in England and Wales (no. 1183344).
The main goal of Safe In Our World is to create and foster worldwide mental health awareness within the video game industry; to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health, to make it a natural topic of discussion, and to promote the dialogue surrounding mental health so people are not afraid to reach out for help if they need it.[1]Launched in 2019 on World Mental Health Day (October 10th), the charity was set up to offer a space within the global video games industry to raise awareness around mental health.[2]
On May 20th 2020, the charity launched their first campaign: The Level Up Mental Health Campaign[3]; a global campaign to challenge the video games industry to unite and commit to positive change, starting with workplaces. On launch, the charity welcomed companies including 505 Games, Curve Games, Embracer Group, UKIE, and more.
Safe In Our World offers training and resources that are bespoke to the video games industry[4] as well as personal stories about mental health[5]. They also highlight games and apps related to mental health[6], and host a podcast that discusses various topics around gaming and mental health.[7][8] They also use their social media platforms to continue to share their activity and promote awareness within their community.[9]
