Sagar Surya is an Indian actor who appears in Malayalam movies and television shows. He is best known for portraying comedic and dramatic roles on screen.[1]
Acting Career
Sagar Surya worked in numerous Malayalam films as a junior artist since 2016 while waiting for a break in his acting career.
In 2018, his much-awaited television entry happened through one of the most popular shows in Malayalam television, Thatteem Mutteem[2] telecasted in Mazhavil Manorama. He continued to be part of the show for over two years and became a household name for viewers.
Soon, as anticipated, he received a call from the makers of Malayalam film *Upacharapoorvam Gunda Jayan*,[3] directed by Arun Vaiga. The movie featured prominent actors Siju Wilson, Saiju Kurup and Sabareesh Varma as lead actors along with the debuting Sagar Surya. Soon he was called up for the much-hyped Malayalam film Kuruthi, an action thriller directed by Manu Warrier featuring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Roshan Mathew wherein he got to play one of the solid characters, Vishnu[4]. His performance as Vishnu received critical attention and applause along with the well-received *Kuruthi*.
His soon-to-be-released movie *JanaGanaMana*[5] also featuring Prithviraj Sukumaran is a much-hyped Malayalam movie.
Personal Life
Sagar Surya is part of a family of four with his mother, who has recently passed away[2], father, and a younger brother. Upon completing a degree in Mechanical Engineering (2014) and pursuing his masters in designing, which he completed in 2016, he went on to join Act Lab Institute in Cochin to fulfil his lifelong dream of becoming an actor. He trained under Sajeev Nambiath and soon started acting in stage plays and short films.
