Sahar Mohammadi (Persian: سحر محمدی‎;born November 1, 1988 in Tehran) is an Iranian classical music singer and string player from Iran.

Biography[edit]

Sahar Mohammadi was born on November 1, 1988 in Tehran. He began learning Iranian singing with Afsaneh Rathai and later used the teachings of Mehdi Fallah, Hamidreza Nourbakhsh and Mohammad Motamedi. He also learned to play tar and sehttar with Arshad Tahmasebi, Mohammad Reza Lotfi, Masoud Sha'ari and Sepehr Lajevardi.[1]

She is a member of Mah Banoo Group under the direction of Majid Derakhshani and is one of the main singers in the songs of this group, including Stop Us Enough, Golrokh and Jan Ashegh. He first became famous with the No Words project in collaboration with Ali Ghamsari. On August 10, 2014, it was announced that he intended to record a new album with Peyman Khazani. Rahi Moayeri and Pejman Bakhtiari have passed most of their recordings and will soon be released.[2]

She has also collaborated with the music group Hazar Avaz[3].She is one of the Iranian female soloists working in Iran.[4]

He has collaborated on the music for Hafez Opera and Saadi Opera (as Hanoneh, Mansour Hallaj's sister).[5][6][7][8]

Margins[edit]

Sahar Mohammadi is one of the first Iranian music singers for whom making and releasing music videos has had many ramifications.

In 2014, several clips of the music group Mah Banoo were released in cyberspace, in which Sahar Mohammadi and Horoush Khalili sang in two voices, along with several female musicians, along with Shaho Andalibi and Majid Derakhshani. In these clips, young female musicians in traditional costumes were playing the hijab in accordance with the laws of the Islamic Republic. In June 2015, members of the Mah Banoo group were tried behind closed doors in the Culture and Media Court on charges of collaborating with a group in preparing and releasing a video clip of two women singing, Sahar Mohammadi and Horoush Khalili.[9]In September 2015, Mah Mah Banoo received a verdict of acquittal from the court.[10][11]

In 2015, Saadi's opera, directed by Behrouz Gharibpour, which was scheduled to be staged in Shiraz on the same day as Saadi's commemoration day, was canceled due to threats posed by Sahar Mohammadi's singing in this work, according to the director.[12]

In April 2016, some pro-Islamic sites claimed that Sahar Mohammadi had discovered the hijab abroad and had given a concert in London with a solo performance by women and in support of pre-revolutionary women singers on the anniversary of International Women's Day.[13][14]
