Sahm Adrangi

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

In 2009, Sahm Adrangi founded Kerrisdale Capital Management, LLC, an investment management firm based in New York City known for conducting extensive research on long and short investments and providing commentary on various companies, particularly those involved in controversial disputes, as well as topics relevant to business entities and market insiders within the financial industry.

With less than a million dollars to build Kerrisdale Capital Management, Adrangi worked hard to establish his firm as one of the most trusted sources of information in different business sectors, particularly mining, biotechnology and telecommunications.

An expert on stocks and financial investments, Adrangi’s extensive knowledge about the marketplace has guided and launched Kerrisdale Capital Management as a leader in providing investigative reports on issues involving controversial business activities, oftentimes debunking misconceptions misunderstood by the industry and exposing fraudulent business operations.

Adrangi was known for exposing illegal businesses, particularly Chinese companies including Lihua International and China Marine Food Group from 2010 to 2011, which prompted the Securities and Exchange Commission to get involved and take action.

Adrangi recently focused on telecommunications, for which Kerrisdale Capital Management produced comprehensive research that exposed the flaws of business proposals for projects initiated by companies including Dish Network, ViaSat Inc., Global Star, and Straight Path Communications. Through Adrangi’s activism, he was able to set up a meeting with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

But Adrangi is not only involved in conducting research and sharing his opinion to the market, he is also a financial consultant who mentors and assists companies such as Lindsay Corporation in 2013, where he helped in improving the business’s cash deployment and policies on capital allocation.

Sahm Adrangi started his career at Deutsche Bank where he engaged in assisting ailing and bankrupt companies on debt refinancing and out-of-court restructuring. He moved to Chanin Capital Partners years later where he helped restructure creditors’ financial strengths while they recuperated from bankruptcy. He also worked as an Investment Analyst at Longacre Fund Management, LLC.

Adrangi is an admirer of known hedge funder Dan Loeb whose rise to fame as a young investor is similar in nature to Adrangi’s, who has also achieved success as a hedge-funder at a young age. Adrangi, who is barely 40 years old, is hailed by many as a modern social media savvy investor who actively utilizes Twitter to influence markets and persuade businesses to listen to his views backed by research conducted by Kerrisdale Capital Management.

Adrangi holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Yale University. He has been invited numerous times to speak at conferences such as the Value Investing Conference and Traders 4 a Cause where he shared his insights as investor and activist. He has also been featured in major publications such as the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal, and interviewed by Bloomberg and The Hedge Fund Journal.

Through Adrangi’s leadership, Kerrisdale Capital Management has grown to become a multi-million dollar business, currently managing $150 million in assets.
