Saiid Kobeisy (Arabic: سعيد قبيسي) (born 14 August 1978) is a Lebanese fashion designer. His main workshop is in Beirut, Lebanon. He started his business in the early 2000s designing gowns.
In 2017, Kobeisy’s couture creations became available in Dubai, London, and Beirut, and were sold in 35 countries and displayed in over 130 points of sale. With the success of his first atelier in Beirut, Lebanon in 2002, he expanded to having his own flagship store at the Dubai Mall and his own boutique at the Wedding Gallery in London [1].
Early Life[edit]
Saiid Kobeisy was raised with two other brothers, Mhammad and Ibrahim in Beirut, where Kobeisy began drawing as a child, especially images related to fashion. As a kid, he always had a sense of style and was always interested in the world of fashion. His father ran a boutique that sold evening gowns and Kobeisy would always spend his free time there interacting and guiding the customers to the perfect dress [1]. When traveling with his family, he would get inspired by the different styles in every culture he visited. However, what inspired him the most to figure out that fashion was his true calling was his father’s boutique and the clients that would be in awe of the choices Kobeisy would pick for them [2]. His Lebanese culture played the most important role relating to his constant inspiration [3].

Early Years in Fashion[edit]
Upon realizing his passion for fashion, Kobeisy studied Fashion in Beirut, Lebanon. In 2000, he began designing custom-made dresses for private, selective clientele. His designs would focus solely on the client’s personality and Kobeisy would attempt to reflect her personality unto the dress [4]. He launched his own couture brand in 2005, opening the first Saiid Kobeisy atelier in Beirut [5]. His atelier specialized in silhouettes rich in light structures, high collars and playful volumes with a touch of gold and ivory cream colors [6]. In Beirut, his reputation grew from dressing selective women in his neighborhood as his atelier grew and began gaining more status.
In 2005, the Saiid Kobeisy Beirut Showroom opened its doors and launched Kobeisy’s first Couture collection in Lebanon [5]. His couture offered a high fashion where the dresses would visualize the woman’s self-confidence, determination, and willpower [1].
In 2010, Kobeisy opened up his first boutique in Beirut, Lebanon, which includes his first Ready-to-Wear line, that reflects the same style as his dresses. His Bridal line focused on women who are bold and elegant [2]. His lines are characterized by generous volumes, flowing contours, and feminine cuts. Also, he designs handbags, shoes, and accessories [7].
Exposure Internationally[edit]
Kobeisy became more well known in the MENA region where his popularity began to grow. In 2012, he opened up his first boutique in the rising fashion hub that is Dubai [5].
In 2015, Kobeisy released his first bridal collection where he was inspired by the extravagant dreams of passionate brides, turning their dreams into reality [1].
In 2018, Kobeisy opened up his first flagship store in Dubai where he included his couture, ready-to-wear, and bridal collections. That same year, he also opened a shop-in-shop boutique at the Wedding Gallery in London [5].
Notable Clients and Projects[edit]
Jennifer Lopez wore Kobeisy’s couture dress on an interview with Jimmy Fallon in December of 2018 [8]. The white dress contained a full miniskirt with a deep neckline.
Amanda Holden also wore one of Kobeisy’s dresses during an episode of Britain’s Got Talent [9]
In the 2017 Beijing Film Festival, Lin Chi-ling attended the closing ceremony in Kobeisy’s Spring/Summer 2017 high-grade gown[10]
Style[edit]
Saiid Kobeisy focuses on royal designs through the use of detailed beading techniques and hand-embroidery in order to structure silhouettes that are lightened with delicate embellishments [2]. He uses silk, appliqué blossoms to decorate wafer-thin fabrics in order to capture woman’s reflection of her strength [4].
Personal Life[edit]
Kobeisy has three sons and he currently lives in Beirut, Lebanon. Apart from drawing and designing, his main hobbies include skiing and swimming.
Kobeisy actually attended a private fashion school in Lebanon since he was extremely passionate about fashion. Three years later he opened up his first atelier using the knowledge that he gained from the fashion school. The atelier had only 5 employees when it first opened up, but this number later increased to 20 in the same year, and kept growing ever since.
