Saints of County Wicklow

There were at least 27 saints associated with County Wicklow. Most of them were from the medieval period and were canonised by a local bishop following their deaths, prior to the modern process of canonisation (which is reserved for the pope). Many of these saints were little known outside their immediate communities and localities and their cults became lost or forgotten through time. Others like St. Kevin of Glendalough and St. Laurence O'Toole became more famous and were officially canonised by the pope enjoying international veneration with a thriving cult among modern Christians.
