Saiyed Anwer Abbas

Saiyed Anwer Abbas (born:15th August, 1939) is a Lucknow based historian and author of several books on Lucknow. [1][2] Abbas' research area include arts and heritage of Lucknow [3] and calligraphy [4][5] in India.

He has been contributing to the print and electronic media since 1988 including a weekly column 'A Time in History' published in Hindustan Times from July 1997 to November 1999, constituting 120 articles with photographs on history and architecture of the monuments of Lucknow.

He is also involved with government organisations and N.G.O's like A.S.I. and INTACH for the preservation of monuments. He has presented papers at seminars and has delivered lectures for creating public awareness in the cause of saving the heritage.

Abbas is currently working on a book focusing on the decoration in Muslim structures of India.
