Sajan Raj Kurup is an Indian entrepreneur and businessman[1]. He is the founder and creative chairman of Creativeland Asia[2], founder of Ventureland Asia[3], and managing director at Fearless Pharma Private Limited[4]. He has also launched Saintfarm Agro[5] which is an e-commerce venture focused on organic and sustainable food. Sajan Raj Kurup founded Creativeland Asia in 2007 from his four-seater dining table at home. Sajan gave up his job at Grey Worldwide to set up Creativeland Asia. Sajan Raj Kurup’s brother Sajeev Raj Kurup runs the entertainment division of Creativeland Asia, Creativeland Pictures Private Limited[6].

Early Life and Education[edit]

Sajan Raj Kurup attended St. Xavier’s College graduating with an Honors degree in Mathematical Economics. He later dropped out of business school opting instead for a career in creativity. He has also studied Bach Flower therapy and counseled people with psychosomatic disorders. He is very spiritual person and spends a lot of time doing yoga, chanting and meditation.

Career[edit]

He started his creative journey in 1996 as a Senior Copywriter with the DDB Mudra group. In 1999 he was appointed as the Creative Director at Leo Burnett Worldwide. In 2002 he further went on to work for Lowe Lintas for a year before joining Grey Worldwide in 2003 for 4 years as the Executive Creative Director[7]. It was in 2007 that Kurup made the decision to quit his stable job at Grey Worldwide and found Creativeland Asia. His goal was to offer a platform for creative people to come together and design solutions that make strong and proactive relationships between brands and their consumers. Sajan Raj Kurup has a wide range of activities like advertising, brand management, and design, to film production, digital media and event management. The creative organization worked for many prestigious brands such as Cinthol[8], Domino's Pizza[9], Pizza Hut[10], Audi India, Cafe Coffee Day, Frooti[11], Appy Fizz[12], Mercedes Benz[13], Kalpataru[14], Hippo Munchies[15] among many others.

Business Ventures[edit]

Fearless Pharma[edit]

In 2008 Sajan Raj Kurup set up the brand Intellectual Property division at Creativeland Asia and its first IP was Fearless Pharma, a hospital disinfectant brand. Their aim is to create products that help their customers lead a life without fear. Fearless Pharma claims their hand sanitizers are superior to most brands, keeping quality above all else.[16]

Ventureland Asia[edit]

A decade after launching Creativeland Asia, in 2017, Kurup launched Ventureland Asia. Ventureland is an investment firm that funds, partners, and guides the marketing efforts of budding entrepreneurs and businesses. Backed by the experience at Creativeland of branding and design, Ventureland aims to provide a platform for entrepreneurs to achieve success. The firm focuses its investments towards would be infrastructure, lifestyle, retail for a marquee, and design-tech driven concepts. Ventureland made its first deal, picking up a 40% stake in an undisclosed early-stage funding round in kids apparel brand Masala Baby[17].

Saintfarm Agro[edit]

After acquiring a 10-year-old Ahmedabad-based organic retail company ‘Arpit Organic’ in 2019, Kurup launched Saintfarm Agro LLP in 2021[5]. Saintfarm claims to be ‘India’s first affordable 100% organic food company’. Their activities involve organic farming, processing, R&D, exporting, e-commerce, and local retailing. The company currently has 258 different organic products ranging from fruits, vegetables, pulses, grains, dairy, and honey. Saintfarm has also invested extensively in building a digital end-to-end ecosystem[18]. The ‘buying straight from source’ model cuts out the middle man to provide a seamless transaction for the customers and minimizes waste as the production is controlled based on demand.

Revenant Esports[edit]

In May of 2021, Sajan Raj Kurup announced that he had made an investment close to a million USD in the gaming organization Revenant Esports. With this, he has become a 40% stakeholder in the company[19]. Revenant Esports, launched in 2020 is a platform that aims to partner with esports athletes and gaming content creators worldwide. It is a destination for casual, pro, and aspiring gamers to share their experiences and develop their skills. It is currently home to over 25 Esports athletes[20] engaged in various popular mobile titles like Call of Duty: Mobile Multiplayer, Clash of Clans, Call of Duty: Mobile, Battle Royale, and FreeFire. Since its inception in 2020, the company has successfully set up its Esports and broadcasting networks. Through its content creators and tournaments, the company aims to grow further in the gaming industry.
