Sal Ponti
Sal Ponti (January 7, 1935 – January 15, 1988) was an American actor of Italian origin whose only main role was in George Pal's 1961 film Atlantis, the Lost Continent.
Biography
He studied dramatics at the Juilliard School in New York and began his acting career on the stage in Philadelphia with the Abbey Players. Sal took various parts in TV shows like Alfred Hitchcock Presents, I Dream of Jeannie and others. He started a Las Vegas-style entertainment troupe and toured the US. Later in life he wrote a musical based on the life of Filippo Lippi and several other plays and comedy revues. Unfortunately, lung cancer took his life at the age of 53 before he could produce one of his musicals on Broadway.[1]
