Salliyarkal[1][2] is a semi-fictional Tamil feature film written and directed by Kittu, produced by Karunas. The film is about how medicine was viewed on the battlefield of Tamil Eelam and the Tamil doctors who worked there[3] and uphold their morals while treating the wounded.
Plot
The plot is about how doctors are saving lives on the battlefield. Major part of the movie was filmed in a bunker which was made specifically to bring a realistic visual.[4]
Meaning of Salliyarkal
During Rajendra Cholan’s era, his army had a medical unit. In that, the doctors who treat the wounded and perform surgery are called Salliyarkal (Tamil: சல்லியர்கள்). Reference to this is mentioned in the Thirumukkoodal stone scripts.[4]

The newcomer Satya Devi plays the role of Dr. Nandhini, the lead character of the movie.[5] Karunaas is acting as the father of Dr. Nandhini. Thirumurugan is acting as the enemy army leader. Mahendran is acting as Dr. Chembiyan.
