Samuel Richard Ancliff is a British Conservative Party activist and Campaigns Director of the group Activate UK.[1][2][3] He also regularly writes for The Backbencher[4] and has written for the Independent.[5]

Early life and Career

Sam Ancliff was born and brought up in Ashfield in Nottinghamshire. Where he grew up in council housing and spent a period of time homeless.[6] He joined the army at 16 and left at the end of 2015, where he started his own recruitment agency, SJ Ankh Ltd,[7].

Political life

After leaving the army, Sam became involved in his local Conservative Association, first becoming the Deputy Chairman of the Ashfield and Mansfield Conservative Federation, and then standing for election in the Nottinghamshire County Council Elections 2017,[8] where he was unsuccessful[9]. After the 2017 General Election, Ancliff became significantly involved in the creation of the unofficial conservative youth organisation "Activate UK", where he initially assumed the role of East Midlands Representative,[10] before becoming the official spokesperson and Campaigns Director following their difficult launch.
